Cape Girardeau School District #63 (hereinafter “The District”) encourages qualified persons interested in running for a position on the school board to file to be a candidate in the April 2, 2024 election. There are two positions available with three-year terms. Interested persons may file at the Central Administration Office located at 301 N. Clark Street, Cape Girardeau. Filing will begin on December 5, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Filing will end on December 26, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In between, candidates may file by appointment only. Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that The District’s offices are closed due to inclement weather or health-related reasons. The District may not open even on the first and last day of filing if weather conditions make it unsafe for school staff to travel. Filing will not occur on the following holidays and breaks when The District’s offices are closed: December 21, 2023, through 3:00 p.m. December 26, 2023.
The names of qualified candidates shall be placed on the ballot in order of filing, except for candidates who file on the first day, who will be listed on the ballot in random order and ahead of the names of candidates filing on a later date.
